Starting this rather important topic for us.
It’s common enough to have acne on the face, though the constant onslaught of inflammation can erode self confidence. It limits confidence and restricts dietary variety such as milk, curd and cheese. Acne occurs when specific bacteria invade the oil glands of the face, neck or back. Consultation with a good Healthcare provider can truly change things for those whose acne flares to unbearable levels.
Skincare routines can limit acne breakouts and help with smoother skin. But the scars and left behind can be equally distressing. In most cases, the marks left behind are purplish, brown or even black. Scars are where there are divots and uneven textures due to true scar formation in the deeper layers of skin.
Scars deserve both non-surgical and surgical options. Marks can be removed with non-surgical options such as chemical exfoliation and topical agents to brighten the skin overall. Here’s how we treat Acne Marks at Dr. Amrika’s Aesthetics.
First, skin type assessment and blood tests to determine levels of haemoglobin and serum ferritin are performed. When these are found normal, we proceed with multilayer chemical peel. Skin is cleansed with ultrasonic probes and hydrafacial vortex head loosens and extracts any residual oils. This step is crucial for even penetration of the peel liquid. Once there is absolute cleanliness, graded chemical peels are applied with care to skin of face, neck and back as necessary.
We choose 30% salicylic acid for severe acne prone skin and layer 30% glycolic acid on this are layered neutralization with sodium bicarbonate. Spot correction is done with judicious application of 20% lactic acid and neutralized quickly. This process causes discomfort and never causes pain. At the end, a layer of neutralization fluid is reapplied. A cooling layer of water and gel is applied and finished with a healing face mask.
Next article will deal with the recovery process.
Keep glowing, Aesthetophiles!
